About Fat Content
Almost all of the fat content in the bar is
from almond butter. Of the fat in almond butter,
only 10% is saturated. Generally, the more
unsaturated a fat is, the healthier it is. The
saturated fat in the BG Bar amounts to 1.5 g,
which is only 7% of the Daily Value (DV) as
established by the Food and Drug Administration;
the total fat is 11 g (17% of the DV). In other
words, based on a 2,000 calorie diet, there is
not an excess amount of fat (especially
saturated fat) in the bar. The fats that the bar
contains are natural, vegetable, mostly
unsaturated fats. It is important to keep in
mind that fats are a rich energy source, and are
necessary to a balanced diet.
Nutritional
Profile
Protein: One
BG Bar provides approximately 10 grams of
protein. The highly assimilable protein comes
from a careful and specific selection of whole
foods, including soy sprouts, wild-crafted
blue-green algae, almonds, sesame seeds, dulse,
and kelp. This is complete protein, which means
it contains all essential amino acids.
Essential Fatty
Acids: Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids
must be obtained from the diet. They are
believed to promote numerous health benefits,
such as enhancing proper brain functioning. The
fatty acids in the BG Bar come from the almonds,
almond butter, blue-green algae, flaxseed, and
sesame seeds.
Carbohydrates: The BG Bar contains a mixture of complex and
simple carbohydrates. This combination allows it
to be more slowly absorbed by the body. The type
of ingested carbohydrates (simple vs. complex)
makes a difference in insulin response. For
example, most so-called nutrition bars contain
high amounts of heavily processed fructose
syrup, dextrose syrup, and sucrose from beet or
cane sugar. These are all simple sugars that
result in a "high" followed quickly by a
"crash," so they are unable to offer sustainable
energy. Since the BG Bar contains both simple
and complex sugars, there is a minimum
fluctuation in blood sugar during absorption,
which means the BG Bar offers a higher level of
sustained energy over a longer period of time,
without the sugar "crash." The BG Bar also has a
good amount of soluble and insoluble fiber.

include: crispy brown rice, oat sprouts, quinoa
sprouts, soy sprouts, wheat sprouts, sprouted
millet, and sprouted spelt. All the ingredients
